Introducing Accuphase’s newest preamplifier: the C-2900. A very beautiful model which succeeds the famous C-2850. We are in front of a very high quality analog experience device that includes the essential AAVA volume control that the Japanese audio brand High-end has developed itself.

Accuphase C-2900Since the illustrious audio brand was founded, Accuphase has always stood out for its purist approach to audio reproduction. One of kuyhaa iobit uninstaller its flagship technologies is undoubtedly the famous AAVA volume control, designed in a symmetrical configuration. AAVA is short for Accuphase Analog Vari-gain Amplifier. This technology was already present in the C-2800 preamplifier, aptly named ‘Precision Stereo Preamplifier’. Basically, this means that the classic variable resistor system is rendered superfluous. This ensures optimal performance and sound quality. Since the musical signal does not have to pass through variable resistors, there is no negative effect due to changes in impedance. Through its in-house technology, Accuphase claims to achieve an excellent S/N ratio in combination with minimal THD.

“The preamplifier’s volume control is a vital component for maintaining vibrancy in the sound source. Since its founding, Accuphase has spent 50 years in pursuit of creating the ideal volume control circuitry.”

Accuphase has also always defended the symmetrical configuration for signal transfer. As you can see in the picture above, the Accuphase C-2900 has as many balanced (XLR) as unbalanced (CINCH) connections. For fans of headphone listening, the C-2900 preamplifier incorporates a very high level headphone amplification section. This section is particularly elaborate, of the discrete type (that is to say without an “all-purpose” integrated circuit), comprising parallel push/pull output stages.

The C-2900’s power supply is impressive for a preamp: completely separate for left and right channels, it includes oversized toroidal transformers and capacitors for a total of 10,000 μF. It goes without saying that each component is handpicked, chosen from the best on the market and married after numerous laboratory tests to guarantee a frequency response of 3 Hz to 200 kHz (-3 dB) and a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 110 dB. Manufacturing, as always with the Japanese brand, is exemplary and uses only the best materials, for flawless reliability. As evidenced by its weight (24 kg) and its size (47.7 x 15.6 x 41.2 cm), we are not dealing with a standard plastic manufacturing…

The printed circuits are made of fluorocarbon resin reinforced with fiberglass, the aim being to guarantee a low dielectric constant. The unit has individual phase adjustment for each input and a stereo/mono switch.

Just like the top model, the Accuphase C-3900, this new model is equipped with a discrete input stage based on the current feedback principle with a high plotagraph pro kuyhaa amplification factor. In terms of functions, as always with Accuphase, we play on abundance. Minimalism is not appropriate for the talented Japanese manufacturer.

We do not yet know the exact date of arrival of the Accuphase C-2900 preamplifier  in the Benelux, nor its price.

If you like beautiful machines with high performance, you will have to wait a little longer. In the meantime, we can only advise you to go to a retailer of the brand to (re-)discover the other marvels bearing the illustrious logo, and let yourself be surprised by the extreme precision offered by this brand to the listen.
